LETWaSH project for schools.
Leveraging Entrepreneurship and Training for Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (LETWaSH) project for schools.
Access to clean water and sanitation in schools remains a huge challenge affecting education in Uganda, even when the country has large numbers of unemployed educated young people who have the potential to solve water and sanitation needs at low costs. The water and sanitation conditions in Ugandan primary schools is dire – 60% of Ugandan schools do not have a safe water source, 67% percent do not have access to improved sanitation facilities and 70% lack handwashing facilities.
Serve Uganda Initiative Smartups Camp
SUI Smartups Camp is a one-week camp for young people who are interested in learning about business and entrepreneurship. The purpose of the camp is to give young people an opportunity to brainstorm problems in their own communities, and encourage them to seek solutions by co-creating new ideas that can be turned into sustainable businesses.
During this hands-on camp, participants will work in groups, because developing business ideas is most effective in teams. The teams will be guided through each of the key stages of the start-up process – from evaluating their business idea, analysing markets, and choosing a company name through to pitching their idea, looking for funding and, finally, getting ready to launch.
