The conflict in Yemen has resulted in one of the world’s most dire humanitarian disasters, with much of the country’s infrastructure destroyed, large-scale displacement, and severe food insecurity. According to the 2021 Humanitarian Needs Overview, close to 66 percent of the country’s population in need of humanitarian assistance. Out of a population of 29 million people, 15.4 million people lack access to safe drinking water or sanitation, 20.1 million people lack access to adequate healthcare, and 13.5 million are severely food insecure. Despite the severity of the crisis, there are significant information gaps that result in inefficiencies in the design and targeting of humanitarian assistance.
In response, REACH provides a range of information and data services to assist the humanitarian response in Yemen. REACH programs in Yemen are expanding, and provide monitoring, assessment, and information management support across the response. REACH also conducts a range of inter-sectoral initiatives to promote data sharing and holistic, evidence-based programming. REACH products are used by a range of actors across the humanitarian response and are published in both English and Arabic.

In 2021, REACH Yemen has published a IDP Hosting Site Dashboard where granular data is displayed on the humanitarian situation in over 870 sites, representing a total of nearly 800,000 individuals surveyed across 130,000 households. The dashboard is accessible here
Living conditions of displaced families in hosting sites is a key priority for the Camp Coordination and Camp Management Cluster team, led by UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency and its partners, including REACH. In order to do so, the Cluster has been working extensively to provide mapping on the state of services and gaps across sites hosting IDPs to allow for a targeted response based on the needs and vulnerabilities of IDP communities as reported by them directly.
